Less than 60 days to go to my main charity bike ride

Having just finished off my French adventure in Brittany, my mind now shifts to the next international travel arrangements, when I am due to fly to Seattle on Tuesday 27th May. Given how this year is progressing, that really does not feel that far away.

As most of you will probably know, I am a firm supporter of the Fuller Center for Housing (https://fullercenter.org/ ), a Christian Housing Charity, based in the USA. This organisation provides new homes all over the world with work in South America, Central America, Europe, Africa and Asia. It is also the Fuller Center who organise the bike adventures as a means of raising funds for the charity. Currently the bike rides raise over half a million dollars each year, and this figure is increasing as more people sign up for the rides! The West Coast ride (1,700 miles) this year will be my sixth ride with the Fuller Center. By signing up, I agreed to raise a minimum of $3,600 in sponsorship for the Fuller Center and I am pleased to say that I have exceeded this figure and currently stand at just under $5,000.

Most of this money has come from me organising European holidays for my American friends, who I have met through this charity. I’m currently working on a tour in Western Scotland in 2026. As things stand, I have 20 American friends coming for Scotland and I had 27 people come last year to Ireland.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learnt is that raising funds for an American charity here in England has been pretty difficult. Especially when so few people have heard of the Fuller Center for Housing, let alone Habitat for Humanity (which is much bigger), both formed by Millard and Linda Fuller. As a result, I have set up another funding page in the hope of raising money for two children’s charities based here in the UK, to run in parallel with the Fuller Center.

These two charities are there to support families when young children become seriously ill or, regrettably, die. They are as follows:

As a father of four wonderful children, and now 4 grand children, I am so grateful for not having to go through this tragic position. That said, many people have to face this horrendous situation each year.

If you would like to stand with me and demonstrate some compassion for grieving parents, please click on the link below and make a small contribution to this initiative:

(I am not looking for massive contributions but multiple smaller ones to show these charities that loads of people do care and want to support those going through what must be the most heartbreaking process)

Thanks for reading this.
